Military Coup?

It looks like there was an attempted military coup in the Phillippines. What is happening in the Phillippines indicates the often difficult and tortuous path towards democracy.

In the Phillippines, democracy does not come automatically with the toppling of the late Ferdinand Marcos.

And of course, this incident reminds me of the succesful military coup in Thailand. Democracy in Thailand also does not automatically when in the 1990s, the military dominated government eventually yielded to popular pressure. (In fact some would say that the move towards democracy strated earlier – in the 1980s under General Prem Tinsulanonda ).
